September 12, by Shaun Maher Authors note: The question of whether or not mankind is inherently good or evil has been debated for centuries. Fortunately for Latter-day Saints, the Book of Mormon provides the answer that yes, mankind is inherently evil. Book of Mormon prophets describe mankind as lost, fallen, carnal, devilish, sensual, and evil.
We have emotion, knowledge, diversity between one another, and the ability to know and choose from right or wrong. It is what we do and how we think every day that makes us unique.
Our decisions make our nature. In the battle of Good vs. Evil, man stands undecided and unpredictable. Do we not all have separate views from everyone else? Is somebody wrong because they have a different opinion than you, or that they disagree with you?
That is the big question. For example, someone was caught breaking into a house and stealing money; they should be arrested and put in jail. But what if that person had a dying family member and no more money to pay medical bills?
Should that person be set free? Some might say yes, others will say no. Or maybe we can consider a multiple view standpoint.
Suppose a person is convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Should that murderer die a slow, painful death the same death he caused to someoneor does he deserve a quick injection to get it over with?
Now, what if that murderer killed someone in an effort to save his own family. Does he even deserve to die, killing a person to save ones he loved? It is these decisions that separate us from one another.
Humans are naturally evil. There is no doubt about that. We may even have good intentions, but when it comes to every man for himself, man will ultimately choose himself over others.
In a world without order, without law, what will happen to humanity? We will become savages. What if someone capitalizes on other people. They will make people do what they want, in order to gain something without risking anything themselves. This is evil at its finest.
To control another soul is the most ultimate power any one man can have. But humanity will fight each other for authority, for that is our nature. Knowledge is the most powerful and unique trait we humans possess. No other living thing on Earth is as smart as we are.
But there are variations in knowledge in humanity. For example, we read in our history books that man, over years ago, was basically intelligent, yet stupid.
He is stupid because he does not possess the knowledge we have now. But what will a future generation years from now think of us? They will think that we were intelligent for our time, yet blind to the obvious facts that were hiding right under our nose. The Nature of Evil This Essay The Nature of Evil and other 64,+ term papers, college essay examples and free essays are available now on heartoftexashop.com Autor: review • November 14, • Essay • 1, Words (5 Pages) • 1, Views4/4(1).
